Letter of Invitation to USA for (B-2) Visitor Visa

Letter of Invitation to USA for (B-2) Visitor Visa

How to write an Invitation letter for US  (B-2 Tourist/Visitor) Visa.

Over time, I have been inundated with questions on “how to write an invitation letter for US Visa”, by friends, prospects and clients. It’s not only time consuming but equally frustrating when you have to continue repeating the same voluminous information to different people at different time. What do I do?  Put the information on this platform and direct whoever needs it here, simple as that. The benefit spreads, not just to friends, prospects and clients, but to that distant fellow (my colleague hates me using this word) browsing the net for this purpose.

Having a close relation or friend in the States is a great advantage for those wishing to have an experience of the American lifestyle, not on TV screens, but on the soil of the USA. So, here it is, you have your Mom, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Brother, Sister, Friend, or that love of your life in far away from California, whom you dream of spending the holidays with. A Letter of Invitation from him or her will go a long way in making your dream visit, a reality.

Now, let’s start with this question, ” What Is An Invitation Letter For US Visa  ?”.

This is a letter, written by a US Citizen/Resident (your host (relative or friend)) and addressed to either the person being invited (Guest/You) or  the US Consulate,  with the aim of proving to the U.S. consular officer who considers a visa application, that the person been invited has a specific plan regarding visiting (and eventually leaving) the U.S., that he or she has a place to stay, and will not need to find work in order to support him- or herself while in the US (if the host plans to support you financially).

Writing an invitation letter for US Visa can be really tasking, due to the fact that it requires some key elements, that must not be ignored. Care must be taken to ensure that all required information is in the letter.

Ensure you have the Invitation Letter with you when going for a US Visa Interview. Though not listed among the required documents, I strongly advise you have one. It gives a clear detail of your planned visit to the USA.

Sample Invitation Letter for US visa Addressed to the US Consulate

March 1st, 2017.

United States Consulate General
Address of the Consulate

Dear Honorable Consul,

My name is Laura Maine, residing at 2345 77th Street, New York, NY 32555. I am a United States citizen (or lawful permanent resident alien).

I am requesting that you issue a tourist (B-2) visa to my boyfriend Emeka Musa Adembowala who resides at 1, Lagos Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. This is to allow him to visit me in the United States. We have known and been friends for the past 3 years and I would like him to visit me this summer.

Emeka will be visiting me from June 7th 2017 to July 4th 2017. This will be a great time because we will both be off work at this time. During his stay in the United States, he will stay with me at my home at the address stated above.

I will be responsible for his accommodation expenses while he is in the United States. Upon the termination of his visit, he will return to Lagos, Nigeria.

Emeka will be presenting this letter to you, together with other evidence to establish his close ties with Nigeria and to assure you that he will return prior to the expiration of his stay in the United States.

Your kind consideration of this request will be highly appreciated.

Yours Truly,

Tasha Maine
2345 77th Street, New York, NY 32555

It is recommended that the Host attach a scanned copy of his/her Passport or Green Card. Notarizing the Letter in the US is also an added advantage.
